ABOUT CAREER PATHWAYS

FAQS

How can I get involved?

You can use the resources on this web site to help your child. On this site, your child can take self-assessment quizzes, research the future job market, and discover different career options. To find out more, call your school guidance counselor, teachers or principal.

Will pathways affect the quality of academics at my school?

Although Career Pathways integrates job skills with education, it is not at the expense of high academic standards. Pathways challenges all students to excel academically, while learning skills that will help them succeed in the job market, further education, or any other avenue they choose to pursue.

If my child chooses a path, is he or she LIMITED TO THE CAREERS WITHIN THAT PATH?

No. Rather than limiting, Career Pathways actually expands your child's opportunities. Pathways helps your child explore all the available options. All career plans are adaptable and open to re-direction at any point.

Does Career Pathways encourage students toward one particular path?

Since education is crucial to success and 12 years of school is no longer enough, all children are encouraged to pursue higher education, whether that be technical training, two- and four-year colleges, community college, business schools, trade schools or apprenticeships. Because all paths eventually lead to a career choice, Career Pathways is relevant to all students--no matter what path they choose.

All of us will need to continually update our skills and knowledge to compete in our rapidly changing world. No matter what career path they choose, Pathways helps all students develop lifelong learning skills.
