MECHATRONICS - POWEr uP YOUR FUTURE
Mechatronics is a combination of mechanical systems, electrical systems, controls systems and computer technology, which are integrated to perform some facet of automated manufacturing.
Robots, sensors, and conveyor systems are components of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), which is the outcome of mechatronics.
Mechatronics is reviving manufacturing throughout the United States. While it is true that some manufacturing jobs have moved off-shore, overall manufacturing productivity has increased for those industries that have been able to automate.
While replacing older manufacturing equipment with new models that utilize mechatronics is easy, the challenge is finding technicians to maintain troubleshoot and repair these advanced systems. Reading Area Community College has developed an Associate degree program in Mechatronics Engineering Technology to respond to this need.
